Southeastern Theatre Conference

"Theater not only mirrors society, it creates society," said Betsey Baun, Executive Director of Southeastern Theatre Conference.

"Theater expresses my sense of purpose and mode of creation in a way that nothing else can.  It gives me joy," said April J'Callahan Marshall, Professional Theater Services.

Both Baun and Marshall have channeled their love of theater into their work with the Southeastern Theatre Conference. SETC is a 60-year-old organization of over 4,300 individuals and organizations that services all facets of theatre.  Whether the casual theater attendee or the seasoned professional.   "SETC connects people to opportunity in theater," said Baun. SETC serves both employees and employers by sponsoring auditions for actors and interviews for all administrative, back-stage or front-of-house positions for theatres throughout the nation.  It also hosts theatre festivals for community theatres and high schools, as well as scholarship and award competitions for college students.

SETC is dedicated to the education of theatre. The organization hosts over 350 workshops in all manner of theater and holds undergraduate and graduate school auditions and technical interviews.  "Our philosophy is not only to help people get their start in the field or to continue their profession," said Baun.  "We also seek to educate and provide educational opportunities."

SETC is an organization that is instrumental to the theater industry by aiding those who are looking for educational, professional, or personal opportunities.
